entrepreneurs and policy makers who have proved that when it comes to making the right business moves and keeping their best foot forward in the world of high finance, they have more than just a pretty face to show. Gender barriers in the workplace are fast becoming a thing of the past.
My theme today is “It is all about you”
Let me share with you an interesting event.
One day all the employees reached the office and saw a big advice on the door on which was written:
'Yesterday the person who has been hindering your growth in this company passed away. We invite you to join the funeral in the room that has been prepared in the gym'.
In the beginning, they all got sad for the death of one of their colleagues, but after a while they started getting curious to know who was that man who hindered the growth of his colleagues and the company itself.
The excitement in the gym was such that security agents were ordered to control the crowd within the room.
The more people reached the coffin, the more the excitement heated up. Everyone thought: 'Who is this guy who was hindering my progress? Well, at least he died!'.
One by one the thrilled employees got closer to the coffin, and when they looked inside it they suddenly became speechless. They stood nearby the coffin, shocked and in silence, as if someone had touched the deepest part of their soul.
There was a mirror inside the coffin: everyone who looked inside it could see himself.
There was also a sign next to the mirror that said:
'There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your growth: it is YOU.
You are the only person who can revolutionize your life. You are the only person who can influence your happiness, your realization and your success. You are the only person who can help yourself.
Your life does not change when your boss changes, when your friends change, when your parents change, when your partner changes, when your company changes. Your life changes when YOU change, when you go beyond your limiting beliefs, when you realize that you are the only one responsible for your life.
'The most important relationship you can have is the one you have with yourself'
Examine yourself, watch yourself. Don't be afraid of difficulties, impossibilities and losses: be a winner, build yourself and your reality.
It's the way you face Life that makes the difference
You aspire for a degree of Masters of Business Administration. The future is all yours! From now on, it is not about your grades. It is not about the state you are from. The town or village you are from. It is not about the college you are from. It is all about you! It is about who you are! Who you will become!
You will find that your education is actually just beginning. You will find yourself busy with problem-solving, presentations, homework, lectures, teamwork, examinations, seminars and workshops. Fortunately, the good news is you can learn through fun and friendship. Just adapt and thrive.
The basic attributes that you have to cultivate to become a successful business manager or leader are:
- Integrity
- Hard Work
- Going the extra Mile
- Creativity
- Self Confidence
Integrity
There is nothing more important to your success in business and your life than integrity. You simply cannot compromise on your standards. Once you compromise your integrity you can never get it back. No one will trust you! Integrity is the cornerstone of your reputation. Although there will be many opportunities and temptations to cut a corner, don’t do it! Your integrity is Priceless!
Hard work
You will find the demands and the structure of this program extremely high. Now it is up to you to generate the syllabus, create and meet your own deadlines, and achieve the honor roll in all semesters of your life. Hard work has simply no substitutes.
Going the extra mile
One thing I have learned is the extra effort does make the difference! I have won a number of laurels by going the extra mile, whether it is academic achievements or job responsibilities. Extra effort will set you apart as a winner!
Be Creative!
Think “out of the box”; generate new ways to solve problems! Creativity is valued highly, creative problem solving even higher!
Self Confidence:
What we all desire out of life is realization of our goals, independence and security. Self-confidence is the key to fulfill this desire. Never give up in the fear of failure.
How does one build self-confidence? Here are some suggestions:
- Build your self-confidence by setting goals and do not worry about the other guy!
- Celebrate your own success achieving your goals.
- Form daily, weekly, and yearly goals. Build your success pattern slowly; Rome wasn’t built in a day! You have a lifetime!
- Maximize your odds over a period of time.
- Take small bites to enjoy the meal!
I complement all of you for being part of this RKG family. Its legacy is now passed into your hands. Respect it! Honor it! And take it to a new standard of excellence! The future is all about you! Because you can predict the future, simply by making it happen!
Thank you.
